Talent is something which is present in each and every one of us but still there are very few who are able to create a mark. Reasons being most of us do not get a mentor to bring out the best in us. I am happy to say that I had Somdev sir to guide me when I was preparing for MBA and job interviews. Most of the teachers around us follow the formal course structure, pour it on the students and go away .But Somdev sir has an "extremely unique” methodology of teaching. He would put himself in the student's shoes and then thinks from a student’s perspective. From my experience I can say that whatever he teaches can be practically applied in every sphere of life. He gives individual attention and doesn’t mind guiding each of his students personally too. Some of the sessions which I attended are:
English Speaking Sessions: Before attending these sessions I used to think that I know English but after every passing session I came to know that there are so many grammatical errors that we all use happily; without realizing anything. The sessions were some of the very interactive sessions I have ever attended in my whole life. I remember doing a number of Role plays, Speeches, Stand-up sessions which proved quite useful to me. We made it a point to come to the class a new word everyday. Thanks to these sessions. I feel very motivated and confident while speaking.
Group Discussion: These are the sessions where I learnt the most. In professional life expression of thoughts in the right manner and language especially when you are in front of a group is very important. The crux lies in the fact that you have to assertive but not arrogant. With these sessions I learnt how to take my own stand and at the same time respect the other person's school of thought as well. Mock sessions where we used to speak in a group of 5 people helped me a lot and after a few sessions only my hesitation gave way to confidence.
Interview cracking skills: I attended these sessions for cracking MBA as well as job Interviews. In my opinion some people who are good in public speaking might not be good in one-to-one Interview sessions. I used to give one mock interview every week. Based on the score that was given for every competency I realized where I was going wrong and thus I was able to improve it. In some of the recorded sessions I was actually able to look at myself from an interviewers’ place. My life has changed for the better after attending the training module. Sir has delivered the best in his capacity as a mentor and I owe a lot to him for my success.
Thank you.
